Being from Pittsburgh, I needed one-hat-fits-all-sports gear. When I started this project, I knew I wanted it to be retro, made of heritage materials, and built to last decades. The process started with ink, refined with Illustrator, and ended up as 50 limited edition hats.
The vintage-styled cap features a hand-lettered felt P on 100% wool broadcloth with an adjustable leather strap closure. The cap has that retro green satin under-brim just like your dad's favorite cap back in the day.
The caps were manufactured by Ebbets Field Flannels in Seattle. I marketed the cap on Instagram and sold most of them in face-to-face meet ups. Meeting dozens of people from my hometown and watching them walk away with a newly-cherished "thing" I made was extremely satisfying. A series of different Pittsburgh hat designs is in the works.
